Middleweight Champion Hilario was finishing his workout and headed for the showers when he was approached by fellow MW Luke and the LW boss of the Posse Kevin. "Hey there Hilario. Or should I say Champ?", trying his best to be friendly. Hilario knew what he wanted even before he spoke. Luke was after a shot at the MW title which was coming up shortly. Everyone who cared knew that Hilario had to make his first title defense soon and there were more than a few who wanted the honor of that shot. Hilario looked at Luke and said, "Save the friendly act Luke. I know what you want." Luke looked a bit taken back and played dumb, "What are you talking about Champ?" Hilario was not impressed and said, "You want to be the challenger for my title. Just like Elton and Zack and Noel, and Robby and Joey. All five of them have already approached me and made their case. Plus, Martin wants a rematch as well. So tell me Luke, What makes you think you're more deserving?"

Luke saw that Hilario was no dummy despite his looks and poor speech patterns so he dropped the dumb act. Luke got right in Hilario's face and said, "I deserve the shot because I'm the best middleweight in the league is why. I got passed up for it once before and I don't mean to again!" Hilario gave slight laugh and said, "If you're as good as you say you are then I'd be stupid to fight you. Why would I sign on to fight someone that is going to beat me for sure?" Luke heard the sarcasm in Hilario's question. There was no doubt this guy thought he could take Luke and Luke just got angry and was about to speak when Kevin finally broke in and said quite calmly, "You will fight Luke here because you're a guy with not only guts but honor. You know that its only right to give the shot to the top contender and face it, who's better positioned than Luke right now?" Hilario sensed he was being ass kissed but what Kevin said was true, he DID want to give the top contender the title shot and there was no doubt Luke was certainly in the running for that position.

Hilario played coy and answered Kevin, "Well Kevin, Elton has some pretty good credentials himself and Martin well, what more needs to be said?" Kevin almost cringed at the mention of the name Martin but he waved his hand and said, "Hilario, you're smart. You know this game. Who do YOU think right now is the top contender? Zack? Joey? Come on."

Hilario knew two things. First, he knew he was being played but second, he knew everything Kevin said made sense. Kevin saw Hilario considering his words and decided to play his trump card. "Plus Hilario none of the guys you mentioned was Posse. You know how the crowd hates us. You go out there and beat an Elton or a Zack and it'll be like,'OK, so what' to the crowd. You go out there and beat Luke, a Posse member, and you'll be loved like you never thought you could be by the audience. Face it Hilario its all about popularity and beating one of my guys will send you right over the top." Hilario knew full well that Kevin spoke the truth about facing a member of the Posse. He also know that being well liked by the fans ensured success or, at the very least, steady matches. Hilario looked at Luke and said, "I can take you Luke. I know I can!" Luke looked back and said, "I believe you think you can. Shit man! What Champion thinks he's gonna lose? But, just like you, I believe in myself. I think I can beat you. I may be totally wrong and you might wipe my ass all over that ring but come on Hilario! I'm the top gun in the class. Prove you can beat me and you'll own this division. All I want is a chance and a fair fight." Hilario scoffed a bit a the memtion of a "fair fight" and said, "Unusual words coming from a Posse guy." Kevin looked at him and said, "Hilario I can promise you that if you agree to make Luke here the challenger you will not have any problems before your match."

Hilario considered the words for a minute and said, "OK. I feel like I'm making a deal with the devil but OK. Luke gets the title shot." After a few more formalities the match was signed. As Luke and Kevin walked away Luke said, "I gotta hand it to you Kevin, you are one smooth operator. That poor sap bought it hook line and sinker!" Kevin said, "Thanks Luke but there is one thing you have to do now, Beat him!" Luke looked back as Hilario tossed another twenty pounds on the bench press as Bryan spotted him. The Champ ripped off his set with apparent ease. Luke swallowed a lump down his throat. He knew in his heart Hilario was far from a one shot wonder.
